Terms of Service

These terms cover your use of Ranger (useranger.io): the app, the free brand report and everything around them. Ranger is made by Harbor Technologies LLC (“we”). By creating an account or using Ranger, you agree to these terms. If you use Ranger for a company, you agree on its behalf, and “you” means you and that company.

1. What Ranger does

Ranger finds public posts that mention the brands, competitors and keywords you track, tags them, alerts you, and drafts replies you can post yourself. It never posts anything for you. Which sources and features you get depends on your plan, and we may add, change or remove sources and features over time.

2. Your account

  • You need to be at least 18 and give us a real email address.
  • Keep your sign-in secure. You’re responsible for what happens in your account.
  • One workspace per account for now. Don’t share a login between people.

3. Trial, plans and billing

  • New workspaces get a 14-day free trial with no card. When it ends, Ranger pauses until you choose a plan.
  • Paid plans are billed monthly or yearly, in advance, through Stripe, and renew automatically until you cancel. Prices are on our pricing page and exclude any taxes that apply.
  • If you choose a plan during the trial, you’re charged when the trial ends.
  • Changing plans takes effect right away and is prorated to the day.
  • You can cancel anytime in Settings. You keep access until the end of the period you paid for. We don’t refund partial periods, except where the law requires it.
  • Hibernate ($19 a month) pauses searches and alerts and keeps your data until you pick a plan again.
  • Each plan has monthly allowances, such as mentions. When one runs out, collection pauses until the next month or until you upgrade.
  • If a payment fails, we retry it for a while; if it still fails, the subscription ends. We’ll give you notice before we change a price you pay.

4. Using Ranger fairly

You agree not to:

  • use Ranger, or the replies it drafts, to harass, spam, mislead or impersonate anyone;
  • build profiles of individual people, or use Ranger to decide anything about someone’s credit, employment, housing or insurance;
  • break the rules of the platforms you post on, or the law;
  • resell, republish or bulk-export the posts Ranger shows you, or use them to train AI models;
  • scrape Ranger, get around its limits, or try to access anyone else’s data;
  • make free reports in bulk or by script.

We may suspend an account that does any of these, and we’ll tell you why.

5. Content and suggested replies

Posts Ranger shows you belong to the people who wrote them and are shown under each platform’s terms. Use them to understand and respond to conversations, not to republish them. When someone asks for a post to be removed, we remove it, including from your feed.

Tags, summaries and drafted replies are written by AI. They can be wrong. Read before you post: you’re responsible for what you publish, under your name, on any platform.

6. Your data

What you put into Ranger (your projects, settings and edited replies) is yours. You let us store and process it to run Ranger for you. Our privacy policy explains what we collect and how we use it. You can delete your workspace in Settings at any time, which erases it.

We may use anonymized, aggregate statistics (for example, how many mentions a source produces) to run and improve Ranger. They never identify you or your customers.

7. Free brand reports

Anyone can make a free report on a brand. Reports show totals and short excerpts without names or links, and can be shared by link. Reports are limited per visitor and per day, and reports nobody signs up from are deleted after 30 days.

8. Availability and changes

We work to keep Ranger running and accurate, but we provide it “as is”. Sources can be slow, change their rules or stop working, and we can’t promise that Ranger finds every mention. We may update these terms; if a change matters, we’ll email you before it takes effect. Using Ranger after that means you accept the new terms.

9. Liability

To the extent the law allows, we aren’t liable for indirect or consequential losses, such as lost profits, revenue or data, and our total liability for any claim about Ranger is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before it. Nothing here limits liability that can’t be limited by law.

10. Ending your use

You can stop using Ranger and delete your workspace at any time. We may end or suspend accounts that break these terms. If we ever shut Ranger down, we’ll give at least 30 days’ notice and refund any prepaid time you couldn’t use.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute about Ranger will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Illinois, and both of us agree to their jurisdiction. If you’re a consumer, this doesn’t take away protections the law where you live gives you.
