Privacy Policy

Ranger (useranger.io) is made by Harbor Technologies LLC (“we”). This policy explains what Ranger collects, why, who helps us process it, and what you can do about it. It covers people who use Ranger, visitors to our site, and people whose public posts Ranger collects. For the plain-English version, see how Ranger uses data.

1. If you use Ranger

We collect:

  • Your email address, a password (stored hashed by our authentication provider) or sign-in links, and your workspace name.
  • Your projects: the brands, competitors, keywords and exclusions you track, and the website you give us, which we read once to suggest them.
  • What you do in Ranger: mention status, edited replies, alert settings, and a Slack webhook address if you add one.
  • Billing details, handled by Stripe. We never see or store your card number.
  • Usage and technical data: pages viewed in the app, monthly usage against your plan, and server logs.

We use this to run Ranger for you, send the alerts and summaries you choose, bill you, keep the service secure, and improve it. We email you about your account and the alerts you set up; you can change alerts in Settings.

2. If you visit our site or make a free report

We set first-party cookies for signing in, remembering your theme and current project, a random visitor ID, and where you came from (for example, a campaign link). We don’t use third-party advertising or analytics trackers. When you make a free report, we keep the brand or website you entered and a salted hash of your IP address to enforce the daily limit; we don’t store the IP address itself.

3. If you wrote a public post Ranger collected

Ranger collects public posts that mention the brands, competitors and keywords our customers track, through each platform’s official API: X, Hacker News, GitHub, Bluesky, Stack Overflow and YouTube. We keep the post, its link, and the public username or handle it was posted under, and show it only to customers whose tracked terms it mentions. We don’t look up contact details, build profiles of individuals, or publish pages about people. Free brand reports show only totals and short excerpts with names, handles and links taken out.

Our interest in doing this is helping businesses understand and respond to public conversations about them. You can remove any post right away, and we won’t collect it again. Posts deleted on X are deleted from Ranger within a day.

4. YouTube

Ranger uses YouTube API Services to find public videos that mention what our customers track. By using Ranger, you also agree to the YouTube Terms of Service, and Google’s handling of that data is covered by the Google Privacy Policy. We keep YouTube data for at most 30 days. Ranger doesn’t ask for access to anyone’s Google or YouTube account.

5. Who processes data for us

  • Vercel: hosting.
  • Supabase: database and sign-in.
  • Anthropic (Claude): reading collected posts and your project details to tag mentions and draft replies. Anthropic doesn’t train its models on data sent through its API.
  • Stripe: payments.
  • Resend: email delivery.
  • Slack: only if you add a webhook, alerts are sent to the channel you chose.

We don’t sell personal data or share it for advertising. We’d disclose data only if the law requires it, or to a buyer if Ranger is ever acquired, under this same policy. Our providers are in the United States, so your data is processed there.

6. How long we keep data

  • Your account and workspace: until you delete them. Deleting your workspace in Settings erases it right away.
  • Collected posts: while a customer’s tracked terms mention them, until removed on request, or deleted at the source (X). YouTube data: 30 days.
  • Free reports nobody signs up from: 30 days.
  • Billing records: as long as tax law requires.

7. Your choices and rights

You can see and change your data in the app, delete projects, and delete your workspace at any time. You can also ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, or to delete it by emailing hello@useharbor.io. Depending on where you live (for example, the EU, UK or California), you have rights to access, correct, delete and port your data, and to object to processing; we honor these requests for everyone. We’ll answer within 30 days.

8. Security

Data is encrypted in transit, access to customer data is limited to what’s needed to run Ranger, and each workspace’s data is separated at the database level. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects you, we’ll tell you promptly.

9. Children

Ranger is for businesses and isn’t meant for anyone under 18.

10. Changes and contact

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we’ll email customers before it takes effect. Questions or requests: hello@useharbor.io.
